How would you describe your sexuality?

I am a straight female.

What role has 'violent pornography' played in your life?

I have used pornography alone and with my partners over the years in many forms: film, magazines, online web sites.

This has been in addition to a normal, healthy and active sex life. It's always been in addition to and not to replace my sexual activities; it has "spiced up" and added pleasure to my relationships. I have never considered it to be an instrument that has corrupted me, it has simply been there to develop and enhance. I am not a victim who has had porn forced upon her by a male, it has been fully consensual and a shared enjoyment.

The sort of pornography I am referring to could be described as violent. I enjoy BDSM and it plays an important part in my relationship. This is something I have entered into freely and would not be prepared to live without. The porn that I refer to has been useful in helping me understand my desires and has also helped me make many like-minded friends.

What do you think of the UK government's proposal to ban "violent pornography"?

I do not believe porn corrupts or encourages crime. If someone is evil or violent they will not be led on by porn - if anything, I believe they may be stopped by gaining satisfaction.

The internet is a convenient scapegoat for society's ills.

The UK government is to legislate how best to imprison potentially many people for viewing content on the internet.

How should governments regulate the details of our personal lives and control individual expression ?

Whilst doing so we preserve hard won individual rights and liberties.

The government doesn't want you to view certain images. And will send you to prison if you possess them. Even in the privacy of your own home.
