INSTALLING AND USING CCLEANER
Downloading and installing
Note You need to be a user with administrator rights, and Ccleaner will only work on your own user data. The download page is here
click on the FileHippo download link
click on Download Latest Version near top right. A File Download box should appear.
Click Save. Go to where you saved it and double-click the saved file.
You can accept all the options, though you might want to remove all those on the Install Options box except for Add Desktop Shortcut and Add Start Menu Shortcuts. Click Install and click Finish at the next box.
Setting up and running
Double-click the Ccleaner Desktop icon or click it in Start / Programs / Ccleaner / Ccleaner The main page is displayed
You can leave the checkboxes in the Windows and Applications tabs as defaulted.
Now click the Options icon
Select Secure file deletion (Slower). The default 1-pass option in the dropdown box is fine, but if you prefer, select the DOD or NSA options.
Click the Cleaner icon and click Run Cleaner
That's it.
Uninstalling
Use the Start menu Start / Programs / Ccleaner / Uninstall Ccleaner. If you then want to remove all trace of it, run an Eraser Unused space wipe. back to the main forensics page © Copyleft backlash 2009
