Stop the Government's
Censorship

The Home Office has begun a process to make it illegal to possess extreme adult images.

These plans could lead to people being imprisoned for viewing images on the internet.

This is a step too far from a government determined to regulate every aspect of our lives and quash individual expression.

Is consensual injury always socially unacceptable....

The Scottish Law Commission published a Discussion Paper on Rape and Other Sexual Offences.

In one section there are specific questions and requests for views about sado-masochistic practices.

The Paper states " the main issue is whether, as the Draft Criminal Code suggests, the consensual infliction of non-minor injuries done for sexual purpose must always be deemed to be socially unacceptable. "

They continue " We seek to discover views on this topic. Accordingly, we set out the following proposal and question for consideration:

67 - The offence of assault should not be constituted by any activity to which all of the parties have given their consent for purposes of sexual gratification.

68. Should it be an assault where the activity referred to in Proposal 67 results in, or is likely to result in, serious injury? "

Responses had to be in by 1st May 2006.

The Paper or a summary can be downloaded here along with other relevant documents.
